Nairobi and Fellowship in Peadiatric Endocrinology by the European Society of Paediatric Endocrinology. Dr. Mukhwana has also received extensive training in health systems management and paediatric care locally and internationally.
In addition to general outpatient and inpatient paediatric care, Renson specializes in paediatric endocrine conditions including but not limited to growth related conditions, diabetes mellitus, thyroid problems, disorders of sexual development, puberty problems just to name a few. He also has a keen interest and manages children with metabolic diseases.
Dr. Mukhwana is part of the Kenyan faculty on the PETCA (Paediatric Endocrinology Training Center for Africa) program, whose secretariat is at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital and has trained over 60 Paediatric endocrinologists from sub-Saharan Africa. He is a past President of ASPAE (African Society of Paediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology) which brings together all paediatric endocrinologists in sub-Saharan Africa to promote establishment of endocrine services in member countries and promote collaboration with other endocrine societies globally in promoting education, advocacy and research in endocrine diseases
Besides his professional activities he loves travelling and engages in small scale farming activities.
