Rabies is a disease spread via animal contact. Both wild and domesticated animals may carry this disease that is almost 100% fatal if not immediately treated. The risk from rabies is not always well understood among the general public in Kenya. Residents who have moved here from other parts of the world may assume, mistakenly, that animal vaccination levels in East Africa are similar to vaccination rates against rabies in their home countries. Our Rabies Fact Sheet gives you the information you need to keep your family, especially children, as safe as possible.
